 2016 Preview

Southside completed the 2015 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Southside just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region seven with a 3-3 region record.

Since 2010, Southside has gone a combined 39-27. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 24th in Class 6A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Southside has managed to compile a record of 107-152. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 6A and 270th in the AHSAA.

The Panthers are led by head coach Ron Daugherty who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 27-9 over the past three seasons at Southside. Under his direction the Panthers have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Daugherty.

Coach Daugherty's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 27-9 (75.0%).

The Southside Panthers will play in Class 6A region seven during the 2016 season.

The Panthers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region seven this season. Southside came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

The Panthers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Etowah on Friday, August 19 at Barney Hood Stadium. Last year the Etowah Blue Devils finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in second place in Class 5A region seven. The Blue Devils lost in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs to Parker by a score of 27-21.

Southside and Etowah have met a total of 44 times on the football field. The Panthers have a 13-30-1 record against the Blue Devils. They last met in 2013 with Southside winning by a score of 21-17.
